Fred, a chemist
for Sigma-Aldrich, brought an action against the manufacturer of
a kettle system used for the purpose of causing a chemical reaction
of a heavy mercury compound with inert chemicals. When operating
the system, the kettle system leaked and exposed Fred to the chemical
reaction. As a result of the incident the plaintiffs already compromised
kidney was worsened.
